When the summer sun beats down, it can be tough to stay cool on a farm. But there are a few things you can do to make it bearable – and even enjoyable! Here are some tips for staying cool while working with your tractor during the summer months.

Dress for Success

One of the most important things to do when trying to stay cool on a farm is to dress appropriately. That means light-colored, loose-fitting clothing made from natural fibers like cotton. It's also a good idea to wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun's harmful rays. And don't forget to apply sunscreen!

Replenish Lost Fluids

Staying hydrated is key to beating the heat, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day. It's also a good idea to avoid alcoholic beverages, as they can actually dehydrate you. And if you can't stand the thought of plain water, try adding some slices of fruit or herbs for a refreshing twist.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

When possible, it's best to schedule your work for the cooler hours of the day – early morning or evening. If you have to work during the heat of the day, take frequent breaks and cool off in the shade or in air-conditioned areas. And try to avoid strenuous activity when it's hottest outside.

These are just a few of the ways you can stay cool, but your tractor may also need some help cooling off.
